In the third quarter of 2022, the top social networking applications in Oceania showcased diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active user engagement. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top five apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

BeReal: Photos & Friends Daily saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 143K in early August. However, the app experienced a slight decline towards the end of the quarter, with downloads around 96K in late September. Active users for BeReal steadily rose throughout the quarter, starting from 405K and reaching approximately 1.1M by the end of September.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a relatively stable download rate, fluctuating between 46K and 58K weekly. Active user numbers saw a gradual increase, culminating in nearly 7.98M users by the end of the quarter.

Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. also demonstrated consistent performance. Weekly downloads ranged from 51K to 62K, while weekly revenue peaked at $1.7K in early August. Active users remained steady, hovering around 23.6M throughout the quarter.

Facebook experienced a slight decline in weekly revenue, starting at $49K and ending at $38K. Despite this, the app's weekly downloads remained stable, with figures generally between 45K and 52K. Active users for Facebook stayed consistent, around 22.6M.

Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out saw fluctuations in weekly downloads, peaking at 28K in late September. The app’s weekly revenue showed a steady upward trend, reaching approximately $56K by the end of the quarter. Active users for Discord varied slightly but ended the quarter with about 2.68M users.
